Soliton Collision in Biomembranes and Nerves- A Stability Study

چکیده
Collision of moving solitons is an interesting phenomena which is closely related to the stability of solitons. We study the head-on collision of solitons in a recently introduced model for biomembranes and nerves. We conduct simulations for pairs of solitons moving in opposite directions with the same velocity. It is found that these stable solitons collide elastically and it results a small amplitude noise traveling with higher velocity. We have also examined the energy loss of the solitons after collision.

The stability of solitons in biomembranes and nerves.
We examine the stability of a class of solitons, obtained from a generalization of the Boussinesq equation, which have been proposed to be relevant for pulse propagation in biomembranes and nerves. These solitons are found to be stable with respect to small-amplitude fluctuations. They emerge naturally from non-solitonic initial excitations and are robust in the presence of dissipation. Solitar...
متن کاملPenetration of action potentials during collision in the median and lateral giant axons of invertebrates
The collisions of two simultaneously generated impulses in the giant axons of both earthworms and lobsters propagating in orthodromic and antidromic direction are investigated. The experiments have been performed on the extracted ventral cords of Lumbricus terrestris and the abdominal ventral cord of a lobster, Homarus americanus, by using external stimulation and recording. The collision of tw...

The lipids of biological membranes and intact biomembranes display chain melting transitions close to temperatures of physiological interest. During this transition the heat capacity, volume and area compressibilities, and relaxation times all reach maxima. Compressibilities are thus nonlinear functions of temperature and pressure in the vicinity of the melting transition, and we show that this...
متن کاملSoliton-like Solutions of the Complex Non-linear Klein-Gordon Systems in 1 + 1 Dimensions
In this paper, we present soliton-like solutions of the non-linear complex Klein-Gordon systems in 1+1 dimensions. We will use polar representation to introduce three different soliton-like solutions including, complex kinks (anti-kinks), radiative profiles, and localized wave-packets. Complex kinks (anti-kinks) are topological objects with zero electrical charges. Radiative profiles are object...
